ICS I-400, ICS for Command, General Staff and Complex Incidents
The ICS I-400 is a 2 day certificate course that is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently in the advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). I-400 provides training for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in a complex incident environment. This course builds on I-300, going into more detail of managing Type 1 and 2 incidents as well as introducing new material such as Incident Complexes and Area Command. The relationship between the Incident Command post and the Emergency operations or Coordination Centre will also be examined. Course participants will be better prepared to function as supervisor in a larger incident or a member of a Type 1 Incident Management Team.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Describe the incident management process of command and general staff functions during complex incidents as prescribed by the Incident Command System.
• Describe the implementation of the incident management process on a complex incident.
• Describe the management and coordination process during multiple incidents. The target audience includes persons who may be assigned to a supervisory position in a larger incident and ICS organization. The prerequisite for I-400 is successful completion of I-300.
